Visual Art 2014

Term 4 2014

                              The Secret Garden
A small group is working on multi-colour prints. They are choosing what they want to leave a colour, carving it out an printing a new colour over the top. Here are two prints so far...

After a term spent on planning and cutting our lino tiles we have finally printed our linos!
I am immensely proud of what our students have achieved.
allowed to dry ready for the second print.

Term 3 2014 I see it has been quite a while! (Has been a few changes!!!)
Quick update!
So far this year we have focused on Zen tangling, Under the Sea (Paint/pastel), Nic Phillipson (Pastel) and The Secret Garden Seaside Wildflowers (Lynette Weir) (lino). Our Lino's are still in progress and will add updated photos when completed. There was quite a process involved in these and they grew! Easier to use photos to explain!

We have continued to build on our skill base and are now working on a piece for the end of year Prizegiving that is based around clay and paint. Our ideas were sourced from Julia Sanderl. This is an amazing blog full of really usable ideas in the classroom. The students explore various patterns and designs, drew up their designs, shaped a clay tile and have now commenced painting their backgrounds on canvas paper.

During Term 2 we have had two lines of art growing nicely in our room. The following photos are from our Thrilling Thursday art sessions where students have had the opportunity to develop an art work around Kay George's Rock Pools and the Sea. The standard of art produced has impressed visitors to our room!

Other amazing artworks that students have been working on are based around printing - beginning with an activity sourced from Pinterest...

Our next step was to draw our portrait from an interesting pose that was photographed. This will be redrawn onto a 6mm wood board ready to cut into using lino cutting tools.

Using Lino Cutting tools we cut into the wood, recreating our portrait. From here we did some crayon rubbings to see if there were any areas that needed more work. Once we were happy we inked up the woodcut and printed a couple of colour prints.

Here is some of the visual art we are working on Term One...
